The chair offers Turkish language training as well as lectures and seminars on Ottoman and Turkish history as part of these projects.

Free Online Turkish Language to Foreign Scholars Project Starting

​

The projects purpose is teaching Turkish to foreigners and support the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language so that this field could be based on an academic basis.

The Ottoman Language Learning Project

​

One of the most rewarding aspects of this course, giving you a chance to research the raw material of history (primary sources) and to analyze other historians’ interpretations of the past (secondary sources). This ONLINE course will be an introduction to basics of Ottoman Turkish through learning the alphabet and readings in printed text selections.

Young Scholars Research Funding 

Scholars and advanced graduate students engaged in research on ancient, medieval, or modern times in Turkey, in any field of the humanities and social sciences, are eligible to apply. 

Grants for tenures up to one academic year will be considered; applications for projects of shorter duration are also supported. Our centre offers research and study facilities as well as connections with colleagues, institutions, and authorities through its branch centers in Turkey. 

 Application materials and three letters of recommendation must be submitted by NOVEMBER 1, 2023.

Letters should support the value of the proposed research and the applicant's capacity to carry out the project. Graduate student applicants must provide a copy of their graduate transcript.
